RTP, Variance and Technical Data
Like in any sport, you need to learn the game rules first before jumping into the real play. Let’s have a look.
RTP and Variance
Hot Shot has an RTP of 95.56%, a bit lower than the average return of the slot category. It guarantees a $95.56 cash back for every $100 spent, on average. With medium volatility, this five-reel online game caters to all types of spinners at the same time, whether you are casual gamblers or not.
Betting Range and Paylines
There are two in-game settings for you to choose from: the number of lines and the coin value. The number of paylines is quite limited, as there can only be 9 active paylines at once. The coin per line is fixed at one, but the value of each coin is changeable, from 1 to 5. The latitude is so small, and high rollers may not be happy about this.
Highest Payout
The biggest payout in the game is 1,000 coins for 5 identical Homeruns on any payline. The Scatter win is slightly lower, at 900 coins for 5 icons per line. Not bad at all for a dated slot like this Microgaming's product.
Paytable
The game has ten ordinary symbols and two special ones: Wild and Scatter. The detailed payouts are as follow:
- The Home Run: Pays 1,000 coins for 5 icons per payline
- The Strike: Pays 900 coins for 5 icons per payline
- The Hitter: Pays 700 coins for 5 icons per payline
- The Pitcher: Pays 500 coins for 5 icons per payline
- The Baseball Cap: Pays 300 coins for 5 icons per payline
- The Snacks: Pay 50 to 250 coins for 5 icons per payline
Just like in real baseball, a Home Run will get the best score, and it can decide the outcome of a baseball match. With a Home Run win in the game set, get ready for some trucks of cash coming your way!
How to Play Hot Shot
Being a classic title that was released in 2003, this online slot machine has a fairly simple design. You can choose your active lines or the coin value that best suits your preference. Once you are done with the preparation, press the Spin button to play. The Autoplay function only appears in the Expert mode, which allows you to start the game automatically. One last thing, you can click on the baseball that says “Payout” to check the game’s paytable.
In-Game Bonus Features
There weren’t many features in slot games of two decades ago, hence Hot Shot is a bit short in terms of bonuses. Actually, the only existing in-game bonus is the Wild; The Scatter does not offer anything besides its payout.
The Wild
The Wild symbol in this game has the form of a fiery baseball flying in a circle. It can substitute all other symbols, except Scatter, to form a winning line, just like in any slots today. However, due to the shortage of paylines, the Wild is not as good as it may sound.
Theme and Graphics
Hot Shot has the typical graphics of the early 21st century’s online games: Abstract figures, with no flashy animation or any effect at all. A bit boring, if I must say. However, the audio is better as it stays true to the baseball theme. You can hear the ambient crowd noise as if you are in a real baseball match. Every time you land a win, the whole stadium screams up and cheers for you. Generally speaking, this 2008 title from Microgaming is not bad if you put it in its time, but with newer slot games coming out every day, well…
Verdict
I find combining a slot game with a famous theme such as sport very intriguing. Maybe that’s the reason Hot Shot still has a place in my Top slots list. With an outdated design and average graphics, the game is nowhere near its successors in terms of quality. But, if you are a true baseball fan and don’t mind about the outer look, then I suggest giving this game a go.
