The Swedish Gaming Authority, Spelinspektionen, has prohibited four companies from conducting operations in Sweden due to the absence of necessary licences. The companies impacted by this ruling are Itsfail Ltd, Teamfail Limited, NewEra BV, and Jer-Team NV.

Investigations revealed that Itsfail Ltd and Teamfail Limited were offering games where players could win or lose ‘skins’—collectable items from popular video games that can often be traded for money outside the game environment.

These types of websites are ineligible for a Swedish gaming licence and typically lack appropriate age verification mechanisms.

Spelinspektionen's strategy is focused on ensuring that gambling activities in Sweden are carried out by operators holding a valid Swedish licence.

This recent enforcement action is part of the Authority’s ongoing initiative to regulate the gambling market and safeguard Swedish players from unlicensed operators.

There have been several similar cases in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, for instance, Spelinspektionen prohibited MRSL NV from offering games to Swedish players without the requisite licence.

This ruling has added MRSL NV to a growing list of operators banned in Sweden for violating Swedish regulations, which includes companies such as Equinox Dynamic, Alpha Interactive Solutions, and Nero Media, among others.

In addition to bans, the Authority has recently issued several fines.

Just this week, Kanon Gaming received a SEK 7m ($668,000) fine for multiple legal infractions, including failing to implement adequate protection measures for players exhibiting signs of problem gambling.
