The World Of Sierra Leone Online Gambling

There are many countries in the world that have made history by introducing innovative legal gaming legislation and regulations. One of these countries is Sierra Leone. It is a former colony of England that has become a favorite destination for many tourists who want to experience the thrill of gambling. In order to protect the interests of its local residents, all the Sierra Leone online casinos abide by stringent Sierra Leone online gambling laws and regulations.

Online Gambling Laws and Regulations

Gaming is illegal in Sierra Leone under all provisions of the United Nations Security Council resolution 2325.. There is however no restriction on the use of Sierra Leone currency by residents of the country while accessing any online casino from another foreign country. There is however no provision for online casinos in Sierra Leone that operate with the help of Sierra Leone bank accounts. These restrictions have been imposed in order to maintain law and order in the country.

Recently, the government of Sierra Leone is taking measures to reform its existing gambling laws to legalize online transactions and to strengthen its anti-money laundering and combating activities.

As a part of these reforms, the Gaming Act of Sierra Leone will be amended to include provisions on internet penetration. It is expected that after these amendments, all casinos will be operated by people who are registered under the respective departments concerned. In addition, the High Commission for Tourism and Antiquities will be given more powers to monitor online gambling, as well as to license businesses involved in online gaming and other related activities.

The main beneficiaries of the lottery system are the state budget and the proceeds generated through the lottery are supposed to go towards providing state services. Since the amalgamation of these two bodies, the Sierra Leone lottery is now operated by the Mercury International Limited, a United Kingdom based company with subsidiary offices in Sierra Leone, and Dubai.

There is no doubt that the amalgamation will improve the lot of Sierra Leone citizens involved in online sports betting. However, the lottery system itself will need a significant amount of work on the part of the officials and the bingo industry, and it is not clear when this will happen. As things stand now, the situation is such that the lack of stable government and unstable government structure has greatly hindered the Sierra Leone government in its attempts to project a developmental strategy to promote economic growth. While the recent closure of the Lica World Tourist Village and the Sierra Leone Sports Club establishments is a setback to the hopes of many, it is by no means the end of the road for Sierra Leone. For the time being, the residents of Sierra Leone can only look to the World Wide Web to enjoy their daily dose of online gambling, and hope that things improve in time.
